Video journal number #1 on the Duck:

Today I learned that my friends and I are going to ascend the throne. As predictably, I "Twilighted". A lot. And as a result, it was pretty insane. King Sombra came back and attacked both the Crystal Empire and Canterlot, and I was reminded of something. That we're always going to be true to ourselves.

That friendship is magic. That nothing will take away what makes us true to ourselves.

I guess I forgot everything in the hubbub of the sudden take over the country business which... won't happen... yet anyhow.

I'm tempted to use the Duck to see why Sombra attacked us, but I feel like that's tempting fate. Should I? I'm hovering over the Dailymotion links right now but I dunno... Ever since I've found the Duck, I've been quiet. I've rewatched my series already from top to bottom. Analyzing what I've done. And, well...

How do I put it...?

It feels weird, looking at your life and seeing what you've done, you know?

So, knowing that this is my final adventures, at least for now, I'm going to set a video diary. Every Saturday.

I feel sorry for your world. Being number one without a purpose. You're saying you want to prove yourself a hero, to be number one. To be the best. But why do you want to be the best? What's your justification?

Yeah, well, that's the fuckin' job. Only way to be known as the best is to be the best. Making the most money and being the most recognized. Having 'friends' isn't going to get you there, that's for damn sure.

So it's just a job. A means to get paid. In the end that's just all it is, a paycheck and a ranking.

Tell me something: being the best. Does it mean helping people because you want to be number one, or does it mean you want to be number one because you want to help people?

Would anyone be a hero if they couldn't get paid? Whole damn families are heroes. People have to make a living, don't they?!

I want to be the best. That's all there is. Make the villains shit their pants just thinking of challenging me!

To be the top is your real test. To train until you drop is your cause huh?

I won't argue with having to do work, that's fine. But... know this.

Heroes don't always get paid.

Sometimes heroes, become heroes because their hooves start moving before their brain engages.

Sometimes, they just can't see someone die in front of them.

[The feed stays off for some time. A few minutes, at most. And then, suddenly, it clicks on again, with a very pissed off Bakugo on the other end.]

Heroes can become heroes because they're fucking strong! Sentimentality will be the death of you if you let friendship guide you instead of your own mind! We were born with our powers!

[Fortunately Twilight had time to compose herself, have a cup of water, calm down for round two when the feed snapped back on.]

That might be true, but carrying the burden on your back by yourself doesn't have to be a solo act. But you're clearly not in the mood to listen right now.

Tell you what. You go through a few more rounds with your friends to see if no friendship actually does anything for you, and come back to me and tell me with a straight face that friendship doesn't mean anything. Deal?
