Surprise! Pink Sapphire Is...Born?

Amelie smiles into the video feed, looking happy. She's not wearing her sunglasses today, so she must not have any plans to go out.

"Bonjour! This is Amelie, and most of you know Moon - " Moon pops into the corner of the screen at this, looking excited " - and we're doing an experiment!"

Moon nods at this, and Amelie moves out of the way so she can start chattering.

"So a while back I talked to Miss Ruby and asked if I could learn how to do Fusion, and she said that once she was two people again Miss Amelie would teach me, so that's what's gonna happen now! So me and Miss Amelie are gonna dance and turn into one person! It's gonna be really cool."

With that, she moves over to Amelie, does a little half-curtsy, and the two of them begin to dance. It's a very simple little thing, the kind of dance that usually pops up when an adult and a child dance together, and somehow it seems to be working - it's not just that Amelie's Gem is starting to glow, but Moon is glowing as well. Their resulting fusion has four arms and four eyes. Her long, wavy hair has horizontal stripes of blonde and black, and there's a panicked expression on her face, all four of her pupils darting from side to side.

"Oh no...oh no, something's gone wrong..."

She has just enough time to bring one hand up to her stomach and utter a single sentence before she splits apart, the shining silhouettes of Amelie and Moon reforming around their Gems.

...wait, what?

From her position on the floor, Moon yanks up her shirt partway, revealing a faceted Moonstone has replaced her navel. She stares, confused, for several long moments.

"...what just happened?"

"There you go. One step at a time. That's it." said Yayoi. "Visualization is key to a lot of power sets. Moving how you want to move."

2/2

There's a long pause as Moon considers Amelie's advice. Fighting, she said, not battling...that is a very telling word choice for Pokemon Trainers. For a brief moment, Moon flashes back to Aether Paradise, the feeling of fear she had as she looked at Lusamine...

And then she's holding a massive circular blade. She staggers a little, reflexively, before realizing that wait, it doesn't weigh anything to her, despite literally being larger than she is. She holds it up, blinking at it curiously.

"...are they supposed to be this big?"

"That's a question that Amelie can answer, but it probably means that it measures to the size of your ability," replied Yayoi from her side, as she had teleported in.

"This is handy. Much handier than the old bookshelves."

"That's not common back where you guys came from?" asked Yayoi curiously. "Interesting..."

Yayoi follows behind, interested in what they were going to do. This was a new thing to her. Oh she had seen the show and yet, this was probably new for her to see personally.

Amelie takes a moment to create a training dummy for Moon to practice on and gently encourages her to try out her new weapon. What follows is illuminating - although the weapon might weigh nothing to Moon personally, it's still very large and has plenty of momentum on a successful swing, meaning that Moon is spending a lot of time spinning around.

She manages to work that into a rough approximation of a fighting style, by the end - there's still a lot she needs to learn, but she looks quite competent now. She pauses for a second at the end of one combo, thinking.

"I think...there's something I'm not quite getting yet...Miss Amelie, can I have a minute to think?"

"She should take five," said Yayoi, having watched her do her combos. Something wasn't quite gelling with her movements, and Moon seemed to have noticed it already.

As Moon sits down, placing her weapon in front of her, she absently plucks a Pokeball out of her bag and releases Nebby. The giant space bat inspects both weapon and Moon, clearly puzzled by something. The thunderous MAHINA-PEA she releases has a clear note of inquiry to it.

In response, Moon rolls up her shirt to show off her new Gem and reassures Nebby that nothing too serious has changed. Nebby's response is to inspect the weapon again, her wings glowing. There's a long pause as Moon looks between her Pokemon and her Gem weapon before she has an epiphany.

"Oh! That's it!"

With that, Moon picks up her weapon and holds it over head.

"It's not fair to call you a weapon, is it? You have a proper name, and you deserve a personal one! So...you're not 'my weapon'! You're a Heavy Moon, and your name is Nebula Heart!"

Moon nods to herself, satisfied, and walks back over to the dummy. Taking a stance, she holds Nebula Heart by the bottom of the handle, and in response the Heavy Moon shifts, becoming a comically oversized axe. Instead of swinging it, however, Moon just continues to hold Nebula Heart in the same position as it starts to glow, sharp hooks forming out of the light until it's clear that Moon is now holding a laser chainsaw axe.

"Nebula Heart, transformed! This is my Asterism Drive! CAELUM!"

With that, she swings Nebula Heart into the training dummy, which is shredded into pieces by the energy blades.

"That makes a lot of sense," said Yayoi in the aftermath of the carnage.

"Names have power, so giving it a name would amplify its power and make it more unique to the person. And thus, create a stronger bond between weapon and user."

A beat.

"And it's hella shounen anime too."

"Sounds pretty." said Yayoi with a grin. "Sounds like Moon's found her stride."
