"So you say you know who I am?" asked Cruise as J drank from the can of Morph-X that the scientists had put into cans for him. Like soda pop. Or beer.

"Yes. You are bike."

Cruise could feel a headache coming on. "Well... yes, I am a bike. But why are you here exactly? You're not a Beast Bot..."

"No. I am Beet J Stag. And I. Am An Egotist."

"He's a Buddyroid," said Nate from the door as the young scientist walked in the door as J drank the Morph-X. "He just... showed up. saying how he was going to get me to reconstruct an Avatar for him."

"That is Jin. And it is to reclaim his data as well." said J.

Nate sighed. "Well, he's recompiling. Are you SURE your friend can't just... magically appear from where you came from? To help me?"

"He is busy taking care of Makoto." replied J.

"Who's Makoto?" asked Cruise.

J drank. Deeply. "My daughter. She's in College now."

Cruise dropped the can of Morph-X he was holding. "... I didn't know Beast Bots could reproduce..."

"I uh... I'm sure I didn't program that in...?" said Nate weakly.

Oh no. Marvelous thought he was RID of this kind of nonsense.

"Marvelous."

He took another drink.

"How's the Super Sentai Strongest Battle?"

"Heavily annoying. Then again...your team got knocked out in the first round, so you didn't get to see Gaisorg start to 'participate'."

Then again...with who he saw on J's team, he's not surprised in the slightest. ~~Not that he read Gai's books or nothing because he got bored~~

"Anyway...what in the hell d'ya think you're doing?"

"Working on a pet project. Which is restoring Jin fully."

He took another drink.

"The Power Rangers finally have the resources to restore him from his scrambled data."

Marvelous face palms.

"You stupid..."

He has to take a quick step around. This is a slight touchy subject for him, since he had once considered doing the same for someone else.

"You sure Jin would even WANT that? And how would Hiromu and the rest of your teammates even react to you screwing around like this?"

"He's alive, but the backup could fail at any time."

J looks serious, as serious as a expressionless robot could be.

"Hiromu and the others don't know yet."

"And the reason you ain't told them is...?"

He thinks he knows the answer. It'd be the most common-sense thing ever. Though he preps himself for the most nonsensical answer ever just in case.

"They were busy with the Strongest Battle. And since I got knocked out early, I decided to head on out early."

Nonsense. Complete and utter nonsense.

"Idiot! This obviously ain't been something you JUST came up with! Especially if he's in some sorta limbo!"

He did see Jin's helmet on the tournament grid, and was wondering how he was there and no one else that was considered dead but weren't replaced weren't.

"He's alive and yet not quite alive, so we're trying to make sure he doesn't run out of time."

A beat and a chug.

"I don't see what's the big problem."

"THAT'S the problem. There's no WE in it. There's just YOU."

He snorts. J really doesn't get it.

"I guess that's always been your problem though...you don't think about no one but yourself. You don't think if your teammates knew about this that they wouldn't want to do everything to help? And yet, you're keeping it from them?"

The battle is re-teaching Marvelous some things, obviously.

"There's such a thing as having a surprise. Besides..."

J drank from his can.

"They deserve to relax a little more, now that the threat is over."

"S-s-surprise?!"

Just the thought of that pisses him off.

"That ain't the thing to surprise people with! You'll probably get everyone mad at you, you metallic jackass!"

"Recovering someone's data is not a surprise? We managed to prevent his complete breakdown back during the original Duck. Makoto would like to ensure he survives to her College Graduation."

"You bringin' someone back from the freakin' DEAD ain't a surprise! That's the kind of thing that gives lesser people heart attacks!"

"I do not see the problem. Jin has been technically alive for the last five years at the EMC."

"They would WANT to help you! How the hell would you feel if they decided to bring him back by themselves and keep you out of the loop? You're all supposed to be crew, aincha?!"

"They would have a reason for it...?"

For once, J sounds uncertain.

Probably to keep you from screwing it up...

"That ain't an answer. How. Would. You. Feel."

"... not well."

"Then they'd feel the same. Some things you can do on your own. Some things can be a surprise. But I've seen time and time again...there just has to be some things...you do together."

Scorpion-Boy...Air-headed Ninja... Yamato...Little Girl...Trusting Cop...Luka...everyone...

"Very well. I'll inform them."

After he finishes his Morph-X.

"You'd better. Besides...looks like you've got one freaking guy doing all the work anyway. OI! Hang in there Doc! I've got you some help!"

"He is a genius on the same level as Jin."
